Big book of fun

NIMI KURIAN

An enjoyable reading and learning experience.

The Spark Big Book not only tells stories but also helps children learn numbers, opposites, names of animals, toys and more. These books are teaching aids, with their large pictures and large print. Some words are repeated so that the child becomes familiar with the words and then matches the word to the picture.

Under the Bed lists the things that can be found under the bed. So you have a list of toys and also some insects.

A Pot of Lighttells the story of a potter who is asked to make a pot of light. In the course of reading the story the child also gets to learn opposites and gets a glimpse of life in the village.

My Own Menagerie teaches numbers and names of animals.

The last page of the book has something for teachers and parents. It lists the objective of the book and also activities which the teacher/parent can do with the child. The back cover has interesting exercises to re-inforce what the child has already read and understood.

MY OWN MENAGERIE, told and illustrated by Sarada Natarajan, A Spark Big Book, Rs. 225
