AT HOME IN CHINA: The royal Bengal tiger.

A Bengal tiger cub snuggles up to its mother at a wild zoo in Jinan, the capital of east China's Shandong Province. Four two-month-old Bengal tiger cubs made an appearance with their mother at the zoo recently. The eight-year-old Bengal tiger has given birth to 12 cubs, nine of which are white tigers. The zoo opened a "wild animals kindergarten' last year, for children to get close to animals. They get an opportunity to feed tiger cubs and feel their fur.

The Jinan Zoological Park is one of the large-scale zoos in China with a history of over 40 years. With the support of enthusiastic friends from all walks of life, it has become a comprehensive zoo embodying animal keeping, entertainment and scientific research. In 1995, it was named one of the "Top Ten Zoos in China".
