Spell right

MaRRS International Spelling Bee is a spelling competition organised in Asia for school children and is based on the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, published by Pearson Longman. The Third International Championship 2008-09 of MaRRS International Spelling Bee was held in Gurgaon District, Haryana, recently. In the six categories, nearly 350 students from all over India participated. In the international championship held in Abu Dubai, more than 150 students participated.

The various rounds of the competition involving English spelling, crossword puzzles , idioms, grammar, word application, identifying words based on phonetic symbols and their meanings, antonyms and synonyms and use of phrasal verbs make the competition comprehensive in terms of measuring the English language skills of the participants.

Shivani Nirgudkar of Thakur Public school, Mumbai, was adjudged the best performer of the competition.
