The annual multi-city quiz contest by The Hindu Young World is back in its tenth edition, and will be rolled out on October 6 th , 2009 from Hyderabad , to the All India Final in Coimbatore on November 6 th , 2009. Billed as “the most eagerly looked forward to event” for schoolchildren, the annual quiz attracts talented young minds from all over the country, will be conducted at 13 centres with questions from varied topics such as epics, history, films, music, science etc. The Young World quiz will be conducted at the following Centres: Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Puduchery, Chennai, Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangalore, Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore. There are three prizes at the regional level and three at the All India Final. The contest is open this year for students from classes seven to nine. Any two students from the same school can form a team and each school can send in a maximum of four teams, using the Entry Cards sent to them. The schools should send the entries to the local regional office of The Hindu within the specified dates. The Hindu will meet the cost of the travel, boarding, and lodging of the teams and for one accompanying parent or teacher from the other centres for the national Semi-Finals and Final in Coimbatore . Quizmaster V.V. Ramanan will host the show. The regional winners will bag Rs.8,000/- as the first prize, Rs.6,000/- for the second and Rs.4,000/- for the third. At the national level, the prize money gets doubled. In addition, a large number of other prizes in cash and kind have been lined up for participants and the audience too.
